Congratulations, Green Scene Volunteers!
Green Scene has been selected to receive a 2009 Governor's Volunteer Award for our outstanding contribution of volunteer service to our community! Everyone who has donated time, energy, or funding to this cause over the last 33 years shares in this award. It is only because of our dedicated volunteers that we are able to give back so much to the communities in Black Hawk County. Special thanks to Michelle Temeyer for nominating us!

Our Past
Green Scene is a nonprofit, volunteer organization whose primary mission is providing trees for planting in public areas within Black Hawk County, Iowa. Through our educational programs, symposia, and our involvement with schools, we educate the public about trees and horticulture. We began in 1976 in response to an outbreak of Dutch Elm disease in our area. Today, as a result of income raised through our annual May plant sale, we sponsor tree plantings throughout the county. Our major projects include Arbor Day celebrations, county beautification projects, and street tree planting programs. Over the last 30 years, we've raised well over half a million dollars for these efforts.
