Special Thank You To:

ConAgra Foods, of Waterloo, was the recipient of the "Sustainable Development Award" this Spring. Their cash award amounted to $5,000 and the ConAgra Foods Foundation of Omaha, Nebraska donated it, in full, to Green Scene. This donation will result in many more trees to be planted within Black Hawk County. We thank ConAgra Foods for their generous donation as it will continue to help Green Scene "Plant Today for a Greener Tomorrow."

Our Past

Green Scene is a nonprofit, volunteer organization whose primary mission is providing trees for planting in public areas within Black Hawk County, Iowa. Through our educational programs, symposia, and our involvement with schools, we educate the public about trees and horticulture. We began in 1976 in response to an outbreak of Dutch Elm disease in our area. Today, as a result of income raised through our annual May plant sale, we sponsor tree plantings throughout the county. Our major projects include Arbor Day celebrations, county beautification projects, and street tree planting programs. Over the last 30 years, we've raised well over half a million dollars for these efforts.
