County Beautification:
Each year, Green Scene gives funds to nonprofit groups who want to
enhance their property by planting trees.
Funding may be used for
the purchase of trees only. Volunteers should be involved in the planting of any trees funded.
Green
Scene uses half of the annual Green Scene Plant Sale profits for
beautification projects in Black Hawk County. In 2007, Green Scene awarded funds to Habitat for Humanity, Holmes Junior High in Cedar Falls, Community United Child Care, LaPorte City Trees Forever, Hartman Reserve, the Cedar Valley Arboretum, and Waterloo West High School.
Requests
are due each year on the last day in February. With your application letter, include
a sketch or plan of where trees will be planted, diameter of trees
requested, and a price quote from a nursery for cost of trees.
Street Trees:
Green
Scene uses half of the annual Green Scene Plant Sale profits for planting trees along our streets and rights-of-way. Municipalities in the county are invited at the beginning of each year to participate in the program.
Arbor Day:
Area schools are invited to participate in Arbor Day by planting a tree on their grounds.
Contact us if you are interested in participating in any of our programs.
